Love.

Love is the sacrifice of oneself for another.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."- 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

What love is can easily be defined by what man isn't. WE are typically love's anti-venom and we have redefined "love" in a culture of lovelessness. Love is not lust, nor is it a present, nor is it controlling. You do not love if you need to know where that person is or what they are doing or to receive reassurances about your worth or their feelings for you.

Love does not need to be proclaimed in some bold statement for others to see, nor does love have to break another person down, hoping they lose so that we can remain their caregiver. Love does not steal. Love does not covet. Love is not some romance movie where the unhappily married woman finds her, "true" love and is acceptable to leave her husband. Love is not overwhelming passion of the flesh. Love is not....man.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."- 1 John 4:16

Man was made from Love, given and shown love. Even with the great fall of man with the introduction of sin, we were shown love eternal and given a way out of the abusive relationship with sin and the inevitable death. The process of grace started in Genesis and extends until Jesus's return. Love has been extended to all people and we are called to do two things in this life.

"He answered, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'"- Luke 10:27

In brevity for a loveless world, there is a steadfast reminder in Jesus. What the Son of God, who humbled himself as Son of Man did can never be erased, nor the words will ever fall. It is on this day that you have your love and that you now can accept that love as your own. The wretched displays of ignorant self-love and ego-driven self-imposed gods is not what was meant for us, but through submission to Him as Lord we get so much more than our human hands could ever produce or our version of love could ever conceive. We are not love, but Love can be shown through us, if we submit to Him.

"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing."- 1 Corinthians 13:2
