Christmas Wishes.

Before we can celebrate the holidays a significant truth must be acknowledged:

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.- Revelations 20:11-15.

It gets worse, if of course you aren't raptured before it all goes down. (Revelations 3:10) If of course, the true reason for celebrating Christmas is ignored. If of course, you fail to recognize the one thing that can truly save your wretched soul was laying in a manger, coming to earth as a humble servant, serving God, perfect in flesh, perfect in words, simply perfect.
Christmas exists because of this.

The wise men, the Magi, sent from King Herod at the time to locate Jesus, the prophesied  "King of the Jews" so that King Herod could murder him was the catalyst in human terms. (Mathew 2:6-8). Spiritual beliefs and faith paint a different picture. We in the flesh tell of a baby, a mom, and a dad, who gave birth in a feces-ridden stable. A carpenter's son, a young virgin's child. A setting that in this day and age would have been discounted as some floozie and some irresponsible, poorly-planned father. Joseph was not the father of Jesus. Jesus would have been considered some "accident." Yet, the prophecies were laid and the King of the time was warned of his loss of power. (Mathew 2:7) The king, so mighty in force that he ordered men killed on the day of his death so that there would be mourning. A king that eventually set a decree after failing to locate Jesus that any kid two and under must be slain. (Mathew 2:16) A king that was paranoid, killing his own three sons, fearful of being overthrown. the real King lay in a manger, a child, humble.

The only reason we celebrate Christmas is because a savior, our savior, was born. We are saved through faith that Jesus was the Son of God and without His grace for a wretched and putrid human soul full of sin and woe we would all be lost for eternity. The damnation of those who fail to recognize is as terrible as depicted in the often-overlooked truth in Thessalonians and Revelations. Men scatter when they are being held accountable, for nobody wants to be "brought down." (1 Thessalonians 5)

It is the season for joy and celebration! Yet, what are we celebrating exactly? What are we doing with our time and resources and what are we really acknowledging here? We are acknowledging death and escape from eternal damnation through the birth of our Savior. WE are eternally received, not because we did anything, but because the God of the Universe gave to us His perfect son to die in our place. (1 Corinthians 15: 1-3)

The old covenant in the Old Testament is broken, we have been given a reprieve, we just need to ask, and asking starts with recognizing who and what to ask for. The "Who" is given. Given to us this day, in a manger is Christ Jesus, God with Us, Immanuel, for his names extend to the heavens themselves. (Luke 2:10-12)

If you don't like the end of the story, then believe in the beginning. The last has to be known to understand why we invest in the first. God gave us both and claims that when Jesus comes back he will not be on the back of a colt (Mark 11:7), but presenting a wholly, perfect, terrifying truth to those who failed to recognize the first time.

We celebrate Jesus birth now, his death on Good Friday, and his Resurrection, the proof that He was who He claimed to be, the proof of the significance of Christmas, on Easter. We are saved through our Faith in this truth (Ephesians 2:8-9), and for that I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. The true reason is not as innocent as a new toy or plethora of candies, but as sweet as eternity.

God Bless.
