Insidious Adaptation

Nothing. An absolute void of thing. (my definition). A thing- person, place, idea even, despite an idea being immeasurable, evening in the behavior being reported from the idea, I cannot "fake" an idea, because the mere mention, or the ability of the mind to grasp and even mimic the idea, therefore makes it real. So, nothing, as it is, void, has to be in relation to something. For example, today as of 10-13-2018, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have nothing in their win column. They have nothing, for there is something that it is in relation to. Nothing, compared to something. It doesn't have to be perfect.  Someone in America says, "I have nothing to eat," more likely than not, "nothing" is in comparison to some idea of "something else." Unsure of what that is. Recognition- 1.      the action or process of recognizing or being recognized, in particular. Or, as a move towards favoritism, or to alleviate guilt, one can recognize another. To recognize initially meant to indicate someone did something outstanding, recognizable  more than others, a contributor to the cause. Now, nothing more than a way to justify an organization or purpose, without carrying the weight being "recognized" once held. Now it is a sham of which the receiver is supposed to gain enough. something, to shut them up, have others strive for it, and the organization look good because they, “recognized” or are the “organization willing to give X amount of effort to some cause." Cynic? Look past who gets recognized and the upward to the organization getting the recognition. What are they getting out of it? Something I ensure you. At a job I held for a Medicaid insurance company, it was favorable to give three recognitions per month, almost a mand...

She has always been such a formal display of cruelty. For me, I have known her more as a Halloween prop than anything else. Through a few history lessons, I understood lynching. Now, I see her differently. I see the craft and variety of ways she is made. Rarely is she actually made the way I saw growing up. We visualize a rope, in reality she can be a tie, a t-shirt, a blanket even, for the rope can be too obvious a giveaway. When you say rope I think of water skiing, I think of a ladder up to a tree house, rarely do I consider the same rope used for someone to exit stage left, early. Yanked out while the audience looked away, never to return. There is no bow after this performance. The play keeps going without skipping a beat, reminding the audience that character, you, were background at best. The play wasn’t about you.
