Insidious Adaptation

Recognition- 1.      the action or process of recognizing or being recognized, in particular. Or, as a move towards favoritism, or to alleviate guilt, one can recognize another. To recognize initially meant to indicate someone did something outstanding, recognizable  more than others, a contributor to the cause. Now, nothing more than a way to justify an organization or purpose, without carrying the weight being "recognized" once held. Now it is a sham of which the receiver is supposed to gain enough. something, to shut them up, have others strive for it, and the organization look good because they, “recognized” or are the “organization willing to give X amount of effort to some cause." Cynic? Look past who gets recognized and the upward to the organization getting the recognition. What are they getting out of it? Something I ensure you. At a job I held for a Medicaid insurance company, it was favorable to give three recognitions per month, almost a mand...

Risk it all, for the likelihood of getting caught is small, right? What drives a man to even ask? Is it God, his principals, long-standing beliefs he would die for? Is it a self-sacrifice where the whims of desire fall short to convictions? Or, is he driven strictly by selfish desires, fueling the mind to feast on something that it was never meant to. Lust doesn't always look like this... This isn’t to say that good men don’t have wandering eyes or minds, but that they become aware and know where that goes. The good men are humble enough to admit fault and do something about it. The good men are able to understand that it is painful and a lot of work to stay convicted and live according to these principles, however it is everything they stand for and to give in, means giving in on self. Pain is a necessary component to life, demanding attention, altering our wills, found in various forms, grabbing each one of us where we needed it the most. Physical pain may have been enough to get us to stop one behavior, yet, others need mental anguish to grasp theirs, forcing a deeper look into self. Other's live in pain like a badge of some sort, a low sense of self, unworthy of peace.  What I am proposing here is not merely another avoidance of pain, but an acceptance of it. Accepting that pain, in this life, is natural, and should be expected. Pain is not the opposite of pleasure, but another “offshoot” of the human condition. A contingency to our, “best laid plans," and more fascinating than pleasure. Pleasure is too obvious, too abrasive and brash, supposedly “enhancing” our situation and distracting our wills.
