Something a bit LIGHTer.
For one to, "lose weight," one has to place the body in what "experts" call a caloric deficit.
"Experts" are people who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area.
"Knowledge" is information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.
"Understanding of a subject...."
The rabbit hole goes deep, for one can eventually dig to a basis they can question and therefore erode the basic foundation on which one believes. Unlike weight loss, which isn't actually understood by anyone, there are other, more prominent facts in the world that do require understanding.
Jesus for one.
For two, Halloween Candy.
Yes, Halloween Candy, has little to do with weight loss and even less to do with Jesus, right? I mean, Halloween itself, has some believe is the promotion of demons or satanic rituals. All Hallows' eve and it's legend with witches and ghouls, a mystery to commoners now.
However, the Halloween Candy, their pictures of cartoon bats, ghosts, orange and black colors, a slime green for something unique. I purchased some Glow-in-The Dark Kit Kats the other day, they didn't work.
I place the candy on my desk at work, I like to get some new stuff every week. The people that eat out my Star Wars bowl tend to like it. They typically leave my cup half full of material goods, full in spiritual ones.
However, it is the candy that entices people, in one way or another. Candy is literally used as the cliched way a man in a creepy van entices children, or the picture of an overweight child shoving his face full of the sugary goodness indicative of overindulgence. The candy can be bright, dark, different flavors, whatever is necessary for the people. After all, this candy is for the people, yes? I mean, the principle of any product has to be for the people, otherwise, why produce it? Why produce anything, if nobody is going to purchase or enjoy it.
On a recent Ted Talk I heard about a restaurant where the tables are all set up, white table cloths with a little, plastic cow in the center. When all the guests arrive at the designated time, and there is no food, people's curiosity gets the best of them, and eventually someone picks up the cow, a "moo" escapes and laughter erupts as every table follows. It is then that the ordinary food is brought out. The restaurant plays on the idea that the happier people are, the more they enjoy their food. "After all, nobody tends to remember their best meal when they are fighting with a loved one."
So then, a bowl of candy as a comfort, a client discussing problems, my subtle challenges that no one wants to hear, though necessary. I also hear my share of things I don't want in life that make me better. I too do worse when I have a vulnerability of hunger, or lack of adequate stimulation. Many arguments erupt out of either boredom, or the threshold of stimulation lacking penetration, hence, too much candy, and then no longer getting the feeling. Or drugs, drugs will do that. Infidelity and the rush that comes from that will too.
Jesus broke bread, not a Twix, not a Kit Kat, not a Snickers or a Reese's, however, he broke what people wanted to get them what they actually needed. You see, candy is nothing but the opening act, like a meal, it isn't the meal that is important, the calories, the superficial stimulation of the foods brought out, but the people we share them with and what we gain from the conversation after wards.
Coffee, beer, water even (though that's no fun) a few pieces of candy, a handful of pistachios as I shared with someone this last week, a piece of gum even, sharing shows an extension and giving of one's self and to do so over some form, no matter how altered, of broken bread, well, now that is a beautiful thing.
Castle-Broken: When appearances are everything, available HERE. A book about me, a selfish, egotistical obsession with obtaining the, "perfect" body and all the destruction it caused. Here to help others who also struggle with their own body obsessions, clinically labeled as Muscle Dysmorphia, or Bigorexia.
God Bless
