Smoke lingers in the thick, damp air. Wafts of sulfur and burning paper fill the olfactorys of a town celebrating. The kids run around with fire sticks, adults gather and drink from cans, bottles, large stainless steel containers with a pump on top. The animals are scarce, avoiding the flash and bang from the larger fire sticks. Celebrations of a victory erupt across individual city blocks neighborhoods, towns all throughout the land declaring unity and its freedom.

We get to do this... |
Happy Birthday America, for you truly are the greatest nation in the history of the world. Established by men who went against oppression, the wrong they were seeing, to produce the documents that built the nation today. For even, Benjamin Franklin, a Deist declared,
"I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth- that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?"
For it was 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence, allowing the God-driven affairs to stand firm through the test of time. It was the underlying principals of each individual who signed that contributed to the way in which government is still (or attempts to get back to) today.

Because of them... |
The way we celebrate the honoring of this day, was expected, for one of the Declaration's signers, John Adams was quoted,
"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."
The day to honor and celebrate all that we have, all that we have conquered, and with God on our side and in the foundations of principals, we will continue to remind the world what freedom truly looks like. For even those who claim certain corrupt principals regarding America can do so because of the forefathers and those who fight to keep the United States' principals alive and well today. It is with great effort and sacrifice that the words of the Declaration of Independence ring true and we the freedom to choose.

and this... |
Much like God gave man the freedom of wills, the United States is built on the principals of free wills and justice. It was those 56 men who constructed and signed the Declaration that independence would be had by all, free from oppressive nations. This independence is the freedom to choose, and though our choices are met with consequences, either from an internal battle with shame and fear, or imposed by the courts to remind us that a nation can only survive with discipline, we still have them. The laws and people appointed to power are also people with free wills and can choose to do with the power as they wish, thus requiring our prayers and support for them. It is too easy to discount a person as corrupt and walk away shaking our heads in disgrace, when the country was built on fighting, the country was made from resistance and accountability.
Like a proud parent watching his daughter tell another child that she was in line first to ride the water slide at a Fourth of July celebration, the road is not easy, it is not given, and we must stand for what we believe for it is our Right. What we think and believe may not always be "right" however we are in the land where we are free to express it, and for that I am grateful.
Thank you God for the inspiration to these men and what they were able to produce with long-standing words that I could only fathom as your inspiration through them.
Happy Independence Day everybody!
